Thanks for the link SFW. I was just suggesting this belt to someone last month, didn't know what they were called.

I think my brother bought one for my nephew to use with his kids. Don't know if his wife ever allowed him to try it out, lol. The kids were allowed to ride with my brother on his Ultra because of the backrest/arms etc. Nephews bike doesn't have a backrest/sissybar.

Ex-bf just used a regular large belt with his son. Little-riders belt looks much more comfortable for the child and the adult.

If you go to www.little-riders.com it shows the belt better.
larger front half goes around the rider, smaller back half goes around the child.
handle in the middle to let the child hold on.

If the rider comes off the bike they take the child with them. Could be a plus, might be a negative.

We watched some a guy put a tiny little girl on the back of his bike with one of these last summer. Both my husband and I got that horrible feeling, you know like when you see something really dangerous and you start getting into panic mode. All we could think of was that big man sliding down the pavement with that tiny little girl as his buffer. Gives me the creeps to think of it still.
They do make a belt with handles to make it easier for a passenger to hang on (intended for sport bikes I think) but that would be a help for someone with a kid that is old enough to actually be on the back of a bike. Sorry SFW, I just get a really bad feeling about this little riders belt.
What if the hokey pokey is what it's all about?

Maybe I'm totally wrong, but wouldn't you think it would be a parents instinct to do every twist/turn etc possible to not land with the child on bottom? Most riders usually don't come off and land on their backs unless it is a wheelie type situation, that doesn't normally happen on a cruiser style.

I realize there are a lot of idiots out there and a lot of them are parents. It is a risk with a child on the bike no matter what.

One friend of mine used a bicycle type child carrier for her son for riding to/from work. Worked pretty well, except then the child goes down with the motorcycle.

Softail, I'm sure that you're right but really I'm sure everyone tries not to slam their face on the road either but it sure happens. I don't think it would be likely that a child would stay under you in a crash it was just an image that popped in my mind but even one bounce would be too much. Softail , she was the sweetest little thing and just soo tiny, it really upset me to see her ride off down the highway like that. She wasn't old enough to hold on or to reach the pegs, IMHO she didn't belong there!

Oh I can understand that! Same image probably would have went thru my head also. To small, is to small. Expecially when you see that they can't even put their little legs in a comfortable/normal position. Certinaly doesn't sound like she was one of those small kids that run up to the bike when daddy gets and wants to go for a ride! Maybe, possibly a very short ride around the block, but not out into traffic.
