Bittersweet Day

Postby DaisyMae on Wed Jul 28, 2010 12:48 am

Kind of a sad day! I sold my first bike to a new lady rider. She is really sweet and I think will take care of her. Immediately put her in her garage! :D I know I should not be so attached to her, but she gave me confidence to ride and to love it! I am hoping she will give her new rider the same confidence. It was one of those things that I think was meant to be. I absolutely love my new Angel, so I have no regrets. Just wish we could have kept them both. On a side note, I am getting frustrated trying to post a new avatar or signature pic or whatever. I guess I will work on it tomorrow. It keeps saying my images are too big even though I have resized them. Maybe I am just too tired to do it now.

The way I do Avatar size is to go into the Avatar section on the www.shrinkpictures.com page. (separate from the resizing section). That may help. Oh I remember when I sold my very much loved first bike. I cried!!! I still look at photos of that bike on my screensaver sometimes and sigh, such a lovely bike. However, you have a beautiful new bike to lavish your love onto, and so look forward to the happy rides to come!!!

Daisy...
When I sold my Suzuki, I was a little sad too, but the lady that bought it was a brand new rider like I was. She hadn't taken her course yet, just like I hadn't when I bought the bike. And the look on her face when she first sat on it was priceless...grinning from ear to ear. That helped me to pass on my first bike. BUT...if and when I ever have to sell my Sporty, that will be another story as we've spent many more miles together. I'm sure if that time ever comes, I'll be posting here with tears in my eyes! Just know your "baby" is being enjoyed by another rider, not sitting home wishing you would pick her to ride instead!

I've had the same problem in the past-even when I got them down to a couple of pixels and it was just e few squares! VTwin mama got it to work.
There are a couple of websites some members have mentioned before to accomplish that-maybe they'll mention them again.

I always feel a little "spearation" when selling or trading in MC's cars etc. I was able to look at my old one for a while, but it's sold now. Maybe I'll see it go by sometime. It had some unique stuff-never know.

I sold my 883 to a guy who lives just up the highway. He is the step-father of someone I work with (didn't find that out until after I sold it to him, small town ;) ). I see it around town and it just makes me smile, it still looks and sounds the same, I like that it's still on the road and someone else is enjoying it now.

... photobucket ... lets you shrink to avatar size, and lets you shrink & save to smaller size for [ img ] code on this site (full size eats up load time for dial up users). doesn't change what's on your hard drive and you can save smaller size and normal size on same site. i like "free" ... shutterfly, snapfish, smugmug (my fave for pro pix), flickr & picasasweb should do the same (not sure) and don't know if you have to pay or give up rights. I have my pb blocked to public view and my smugmug is a paid service but I think they do free, too.

I have a feeling that when we are ready to get new bikes, I will feel sad too. I get attached to things too. But knowing that the new lady rider will take good care of her is comforting. ;)

Feeling better about it today. Angel is so perfect that I would not have ridden the other bike very much. I did mail her new owner a gremlin bell today. :D

I understand your attachment and sadness for letting the first one go. It's great that a new lady rider will have the chance to learn on her.

I can't imagine letting go :( I can only see selling my bike when the time comes, like you did for another new lady rider. You blessed her with a great bike.Maybe one day she'll call and see if you want to ride with her ;)

I did tell her to give us a call when she feels ready and we will ride with her. :D She seemed happy to have someone to eventually ride with. Apparently two other friends also took the MSF class but she is the first to get a bike.

Oh, that is sad. I really don't want to think of the day I sell Sirena. ((hugs))
Thank you for the journey and the reminder that we can trust it, even when we are not sure what comes next.

In a perfect world we could keep all of our old bikes in the garage to reminisce about old rides with. :)
I hated to see little red roll onto the dealers trailer when nellie came too. It is great that you know where the bike has gone and might get a chance to ride with her though.
What if the hokey pokey is what it's all about?
