Those are interesting. So do you find that your friction zone is a little better? Mine is way out there, almost to the end! Is the friction zone now a little closer to the middle??

I have that clutch adjustment on mine. I ordered it like 2 months ago. It doesn't feel too much different to me, but my husband said it is alot closer than it was before.

I've been having that problem for like forever... but have pretty much resolved myself that it was unfixable... see what happens when you count on the local boys only to fix it?? They always adjust it in, I put on pull back risers and have my handlebar rolled as far back and down as comfy, even adjusted it at the lever - mocked up a new lever bent in - ready to have the part machined to my specs... but this is gonna be a total lifesaver!! I always knew there was nothing more I could do to help my super tighties, they just were awkward feeling because of my reach...

Actually, when Hubby saw what it actually was, he said he could make it himself... he just never thought of it... I think he said it was like a small piece of aluminum or stainless tubing (hope it's stainless so I can dremel it up to a nice shine!!) and a certain dia. spring.., you unscrew the one fitting (where they adjust the clutch) and slide this up on the cable... I really have no clue and he's not where I can ask him about it... Once we get the stuff tomorrow, I'll do pix of what it all entails and what and where we got the parts, what the reach was before and the reach after, etc.

I knew you'd like the clutch mod. It made such a huge difference for me and I wanted to make sure all V Star owners know about it. It gave me so much more confidence that it improved my overall riding ability ten-fold. How did the installation go? I know the spring can be a little bugger to mess with. LOL. Anyway, I'm glad to hear it has helped you.

I'm heading out for the first night of the MSF course in a few minutes. Wish me luck! I'll post about it over the weekend.

Zoom - this is the exact reason I named my bike as a man-child.... I kept having fits over and over from March to July last year, trouble not so much with getting pulled out on turns and stalling, but having to hold the clutch with the tip/edge of my pointer finger - stressed me so much that my throttle hand was, ummm, let's say, quite aggressive sounding....imagine a very fussy toddler: PUTTY PUTTY PUTTY PUTTY PUTT PUTT PUTT.... and my tighty righties were all herky-jerky because I just couldn't reach any further on that lever... It was embarrassing and awkward and all anyone I talked to here (home, not the m.b.... altho I did discuss it on the 1st board...) would say is, well, that's the way Yamaha makes them.... bs, I would say... I want a fix... I even talked to the regional sales managers (past and present) about the problem... Anyway, he (bike) was named after he tried to get all lazy and jerky when my clutch control was just to the point of me almost dropping him in a turn, and I throttled big, said a few choice words including, I'm gonna spank your butt if you try that again, Mister, double clutched and took off... Now he knows who's boss... but that fix sure will make it a bit easier to go light on the bit... and off the crop.

SnOH - you do good this weekend... thoughts and prayers and all that other stuff with you... don't forget to take plenty of fluids, relax and have fun, and don't over think or over stress... rear brake in u-eys and cones, friction zone, friction zone... no matter how loud you throttle on, clutch will control your forward momentum....

MSF-Update. The instructor was 30 minutes late tonight! Sheesh! It got better as the night went on. We only made it half way through the book/review. We will start out on the riding course tomorrow, then finish the book in the afternoon. The good part to that is we'll be out of the heat and in the classroom for part of the day. Well, I'm going to bed. Big day tomorrow. Thanks all...for the well wishes.

Had the fix on my bike for a few weeks now (?) and I am soooo loving it! Showed it to the service guy at our dealership and had my salesman play with it and he was like - "wow, I heard about it but didn't know what the difference would be!!" It not only lets the friction zone be closer to the grip, but pulls some of the "weight" or stiffness off the clutch lever as well!! Have had some great communication with Seritec on his clutch adjustment kit fix, and was pleased that the tube was nicely polished chrome, too!

I hope you don't mind me, though, I've been known to call anyone anything at anytime... just ask my kids, I call them both each time and then say, o.k. - you're fine, I need you... When one was a newborn in their bassinet, I asked Hubby to check on them because of a little noise they made... he said "what?"... I told him to check on Missy Whiskers... He said, "she isn't in here"... "What? Look right there in the bassinet"... He started to freak and said, "she'd better not be in the house!" I had no idea I had been calling our dear baby Missy Whiskers! (Our kitty.) Give me any line-up of numbers or places and I'm there, but names, are you kidding? Just ask April and Alyssa here, too!! (so it's really not my eyesight, pills or age - it's ME??!!)
