Voyager kit

Postby 148 on Thu Oct 23, 2008 4:57 am

Hey There, I've been checking out this site for about a month now and have been a member for about 5 minutes!Love It! I have a dilema and hoped someone would have an answer for me...I'm thinking of putting a Voyager Kit on my 2005 Honda Shadow Aero 750, and wondered how much power/mpg I would lose? Or...should I invest in a bigger bike before the kit gets put on? Any ideas?

Voyager kit? Like a dyno jet kit??
I have a dyno jet as without it I lost power in 1st gear. I have cobra pipes.
Without the kit I got terrible gas mileage...just having the pipes.
Since the kit it got better. 10 mpg better.
According to specs on the bike at stock I should get 45-60 mpg. Right now I am getting about 50. But I am also a throttle junkie who doesn't like to put my feet down for lights...so I try to creep. And my mpg is both hgwy and city. I tend to burn more gas on my 600 on the hgwy.
Overall I would say you should still be within the specs range, but in the middle to lower end.

i think she's talking about the kindofa trike kit that temporarily adds a couple of wheels to the back of the bike (for a total of 4, 3 of them in the back). I saw an ad for it in one of the biker mags. You can take it off fairly easily, according to the ad, when you want to go back to a 2-wheeler.

I have the same question. I want to convert my Kawasaki Vulcan 500 to a trike and want to make sure I can still climb hills & go 70mph. Anyone have experience? I read one gal's post on another board who put the trailer type trike kit on her Vulcan 500 and she seems happy with it, but she didn't give any specifics. Also, I want to know if I can mod the engine/carbs/gears, etc. to compensate for the added weight.

I don't have any experience with voyager kits but know that some people on the trike talk site have had them and recently someone was talking about putting one on so there was information there about them. http://www.triketalk.com/forum/ They sound like they will take some getting used to but many people have had them and been very happy with them. Hope this helps and let us know how it goes.

This thread on Trike Talk was about a kit put on a Kawasaki Nomad. Maybe that's something to consider? I know very little about the add-on kits, especially this one, so I'm afraid I'm not much help, but good luck with whatever you choose and keep us updated!! :)

While I was shopping for my bike, I test drove a 750 Aero with an InstaTrike kit; very similar to the Voyager but had smaller wheels. I had my 225+ husband on the back during the test drive and it responded just fine! If you like the look of the Voyager, I would go for it. There are lots of folks around my neck of the woods that ride them.

I did find another Trike Kit that I would have bought instead of the Voyager if I went trike. I liked it better and the owner was so helpful. The web site is: http://www.triggtrikekits.com/. Jerrit (the owner) even sent me a picture of what my bike would look like with this kit. You are going to love the way this looks! :-) http://users.commspeed.net/lindsay/images/AeroTrike.jpg In addition, the wheels are bigger than the Voyager which to me feels more like a stock Trike instead of an add-on...

Have fun shopping!

I went to the Trigg's shop in KY. Extremely nice people and high quality, conscientious design and work. Although, I have since decided to trade in the bike I was going to convert for a Lehman conversion on a Suzuki C50 that's already done.

Hi Chloe,

So nice to hear that what I thought based on our emails back and forth was actually true and you found out in person. Thanks for letting me know!
