A Funny Thing Happened on the Way out of the Driveway...

Postby Crabitha on Fri Nov 06, 2009 11:32 am

I was all excited- I got the card in the mail that said I passed the safety class test, and could get my license at the DMV. I planned to get up today, get suited up for the cold, ride my bike to the DMV, get the "M" put on my license, and ride to work, all happy and thrilled.

A funny thing happened on the way out of the driveway...

I "popped the clutch" and ended up on my back in the neighbor's yard. Tons of fun damage to my bike. Tons of fun damage to my ego. I'm fine. Cranky elbow. Somehow I broke the face shield on my helmet. Going to the hospital to get checked out for sure when I get finished with the essential stuff at work.

"Elated" to "Deflated" in less than 5 seconds.

I'm so sorry to hear about this! But I am happy to hear that you weren't seriously hurt. How much damage did your bike get?

Oh that sucks! First time I dropped my bike, a friend said to me "sh*t happens. get back on." It does and you will. Hope you and your bike heal quickly :-)

Don't worry a thing about it - that's bound to happen sooner or later, and it will probably happen more than once. The important thing is that you passed the class - hurray! There will be mishaps but just pick up your bike and forget about it!

Welcome to the Club ... it happens to most of us! Hope your arm will be o.k. and you can fix the bike. Don't let it get to you, hop back on and try again.

I've no problem getting back on. Wasn't the first time we got acquainted with the pavement. Went to hospital. Everything is fine. Twisted elbow, bruised knee, pain meds.

I'm just looking at optimistcally it as my "last dump"- had to get one more in before that "M" was printed on the license. Now that the M is there... old pro riding only.

Giddyup, Buttercup!

The bike has gone to "Mancave" for surgery. I should know something by tomorrow.

Just love bumps and love bites ... the best relationships are full of lots of emotion in the beginning... at least you and Buttercup aren't doing it the mild and tame way!! Seriously, though, do take care of the boo boos.. if they say ice then heat ... and p/t - definitely do it!

Congrats! on the M!
