Tried to take my test today. Dumped during the slow-speed cone weave. Landed on my back. Broke my brake grip.

I'll try again in a few days.

I'm okay.

I just wanted to get my license before I go to the safety course (10/16), because it is just too far away. I want to ride to work while the weather is still nice.

I'm not giving up. I was going to take it again and again right then and there. They said I could take it as many times as I wanted, as long as I paid for every third time.

I practiced the course again a few times (I didn't fall over, but I just wasn't succeeding). If I didn't have to go to work, I would have stayed there all day long til either I passed on my own, they took pity on me or got annoyed with me and passed me, or until my bike was in tiny pieces on the lot. lol

If work wasn't going to be so crazy the rest of this week, I'd be going every day til I got it.

I'm tired of not being able to just hop on my bike and go when I want without a babysitter. :)

The cone weave was very tricky for me when I took the MSF course the first time. The trick is to not look at the cones. Look ahead to just past the last cone. The ones in between are in your peripheral vision. If you can stick to that you will be able to dance right through them. Good luck!

I have been too sick to practice (I have Fibromyalgia). So frustrating, especially on nice, crisp days.

Thanks for your support, Ladies!

Hang in there and don't give up! It took me FIVE tries to pass my skills test (the second part of a three-part process here to get a motorcycle licence). This is similar to what you're doing. It was the test of parking lot maneuvers, including the cone weave. My worst struggle was with nerves, but I was determined to get my licence, no matter how many tries it took. When I finally passed, I did it without one demerit. (Must have been all that practice.) Then, I went on to pass my road test on the first try. I know how frustrating and demoralizing it can be, but you'll get there!

Cones

Postby MSgtK on Sat Oct 31, 2009 6:21 pm

Here is what worked for me: Get a little bit up off your seat drive a straight line and just weave the bike right to left just enought to pass the cone. Dont try to "drive" "around" each cone, there is not enough room or time. Good luck!

I just completed the course for the 2nd time, so I'm still quite the noobie. The only thing I can offer is encouragement!

Just think "push, push, push, push....."

Go get 'em!

OK... how's the practice going? Any chance for another class anytime soon?

I hate hearing about the non-pass... but you can take it to the bank that all you learned is still there... next go round you'll be building onto that... hoping for a stellar pass!

I passed the safety class last weekend. Just waiting to receive the card in the mail so I can take it to the DMV and have my "m" put on my license. I'm so happy.
